Growing up, I hated my body.
And I hated my menstrual cycle, my womb, and everything that came with it. Understandably so- not only has the cultural mentality around have a female body and menstruation, birth, and everything after and in between seen as a burden, a curse, but I had a felt sense and personal experience of it being so.
Every cycle, doubled over in such intense pain I sometimes vomited, always leaking though my tampons staining my pants and underwear, bleeding unexpectedly in the middle of a stuffy, awkward, soul-crushingly boring high school class. Sounds super amazing, empowering and sacred! Right??
